Message from the President of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants
Selamat Datang!
This is how we welcome visitors to Malaysia. I am indeed delighted to welcome you to the 18th World Congress of Accountants (WCOA) which will be held in our capital city, Kuala Lumpur, from 8 to 11 November 2010.
Malaysia and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) are honoured to have been chosen as the host for this prestigious event, as it creates a unique opportunity for the Government, regulatory bodies, education providers and other organisations to work together to raise the profile of the accounting profession. We are excited that WCOA 2010 will provide the platform for exchange of ideas on issues and challenges faced by the global accounting fraternity and the wider business community.
The theme of the World Congress “Accountants: Sustaining Value Creation” is very appropriate in the light of the global concerns on sustainability. As accountants, we have a key role to play to ensure that the values created within organisations are sustainable and preserved.
The MIA/WCOA team has put together an exciting Technical programme together with the exhibition and social programme to provide our delegates with a fulfilling and rewarding World Congress. As we countdown to November and gear up for WCOA 2010, we are doing our best to make this the best World Congress yet.
See you in Kuala Lumpur in November 2010!
Abdul Rahim Bin Abdul Hamid
